The Child Education Ministry of Laurel Community Church exists to give purposeful oversight to the training up of children at Laurel Church, to bring children into a saving relationship with Jesus Christ, and to develop disciples that will pattern their lives after Him.

Safety:
As parents we want our children to learn in a safe environment and want parents to feel safe leaving their children in our care while they attend church.   At Laurel Church, we take the safety of children very seriously requiring all who work with children be at least 18 years of age, with two adults in every classroom.  We background check everyone serving with children and require that they receive safety training through the Washington County Sheriff’s Department and be recertified every two years.   Children must be checked in & out of class by their parent/guardian.  Sunday school meets the same time as the church service giving both parent and child an opportunity to worship and learn without distraction.

Nursery:
We offer nursery care in our nursery for newborns to age 2.

Sunday school:

  • Preschool-aged children (ages 2-4) attend class from 9:30 am until the end of church.   Activities include a lesson and activity sheet, play time and occasional craft.  Parents should take their children back to the preschool area to sign them in at the beginning of church.
  • Kingdom kids are children ages 5 or kindergarten through 6th grade.  10:00 am – 11:00 am.  Kingdom Kids attend the beginning of the church service with their parents to sing worship songs.  They are usually dismissed to their classrooms just before the sermon begins.   Parents need to pick up their children after church lets out.

The children are currently studying about Jesus’ ministry and will be moving back to the Old Testament after Easter.

Wednesday Evening Family Night 6:00 – 7:00pm  Kid’s Choir
Children ages 4-5th grade are welcome.  (maybe older if there was an interest)  We meet from 6:00 – 7:00 (or right after the meal and just before the adult study begins)
Children are learning about worship through singing to the Lord.  (Kid’s Choir)  The children are learning a song to sing in church on a Sunday. They also do some arts and crafts.
