1. In Acts 9:1-19 it's important to distinguish between what is specific to Saul's conversion and what is normal for all conversions. Read the text (verses 1-19): WHAT DO YOU SEE AS SPECIFICTO SAUL'S SALVATION EXPERIENCE AND WHAT IS NORMAL FOR ALL SALVATION EXPERIENCES? Hint: Compare verses 3-9, 15-16, and 18 with Matthew 28:19-20, Mark 16:15- 16, Luke 23:39-43, John 3:3-8, and Hebrews 11:6.
2. Think about your own conversion experience--WHAT WAS SIMILAR TO SAUL'S AND WHAT WAS DIFFERENT? WHAT MEANING DO YOU GAIN FROM THIS COMPARISON? CAN YOU THINK OF A BIBLE CHARACTER WHOSE CONVERSION EXPERIENCE WAS SIMILAR TO YOUR OWN?
3. It's interesting that two Damascus residents had a part in welcoming the new Christian Saul into the Christian community (the local church). Read verses 10-16. WHEN HAVE THESE NAMES BEEN USED EARLIER IN THE BIBLE? WHO ARE SOME PEOPLE WHO HAD A PART IN "WELCOMING" YOU TO THE CHRISTIAN FAITH AND A LOCAL GROUP OF BELIEVERS? Thank God for them!
